Fix Winsock Problem on Windows 7

A friend of mine had a problem with his Internet Connection. It is connected but cannot be used for Internet browsing. Pinging an IP is working, but tracert returns “no resources”. Pinging a hostname return DNS problem, cannot resolve hostname.

After Googling, I found 2 lines of shell command as the solution from here. Here it is:

Fix Winsock Manually on Windows 7

1. Open up the command line utility and enter:

netsh winsock reset catalog (resets winsock entries)
netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (resets TCP/IP stack)

2. Reboot your PC
